After that I was lucky enough to be accepted by the show ballet. This was a chance to appear on a stage together with well-known singers, to be on a television and it was a turning point in my career. I had been with them for two years until…I found out about belly dance…actually about eastern music. I wanted to try to do some solo shows and belly dance music seemed to be perfect for my idea. That was the time when I started dreaming of a big audience, bright lights, stunning costumes and the name Juliet in all the magazines. My dream became an obsession: endless rehearsals, choreography, stretching, gymnastics and acrobatics used to take no less than six hours a day throughout a few years! To be honest with you it was quite hard to cope with staying in the studio and practicing when the sun is shining outside and friends are calling… But again, I did not know how to belly dance, it was only my own interpretation, however people loved that and I loved the fact that they love my dance. Well I would say it was exotic dancing at that stage... It became oriental only few years later when I saw a Turkish dancer dancing with the same music I did. That was it! A great challenge and big changes in my life. I wished to be as good as him. I traveled to the Middle East to take lessons and watch the most talented dancers. I must say I improved unbelievably, but for me it would never be enough to be as good as someone, I wanted to be better than everyone else! However my approach was totally wrong, I wanted to be better than someone by copying them. What a mistake! I wish I realized that earlier! In order to be "the best" it is essential to stay creative and keep your own spark that generates a special aura around you. In this spirit one can create. The most successful performances are based on the moments when your mind is switched off and the music dictates the spontaneous movements to your body.
