Soul Journey

In the year 2000. Tony Young, ( keyboards / piano / acc.guitar / vocals ) , Steve Thompson, ( lead guitar / vocals ), Mitch Oldham, ( drums / percussion ), all with extensive session and touring experiences with , Gerry Marsden, P. J. Proby, Peter Noone, Alisha' Attic, to name a few, met Garth Watt - Roy, ( guitar / bass / vocals ), who himself had toured with Bonnie Tyler, Barbara Dickson, B. A. Robertson and was a member of The Q Tips with Paul Young; it was during one of these tours they met. A friendship began to build, but as is the usual in this business, different commitments saw them going their own ways. Nevertheless four years later, they were to end up in the same band : by now Tony, Steve and Mitch had added another member to their line - up, Andy Wild, ( keyboard / synths / Hammond / vocals ), now they had Garth on bass. Sharing a 'mutual' interest in 'soul music ', discussions began about putting together a soul project, but with a difference. Taking the abilities within the five of them, the decision was agreed; there was to be no 'tinselling' around this band! Just sheer determination, expression and emotion to make up 'their' sound. This proved to be a strong foundation for them together and their influences and feel just 'fell' in to place. So here you have the S. J's , five tasteful players and singers, ' laying - down ' their ' soul ' on the line for You !!
