the Sound of Quo............
'First and foremost we are Status Quo fans, and quite simply this is what has inspired the band.'The above statement by Tony is the simple reason why this Quo tribuite band were formed.Tony Rockett is the driving force behind the band, and it is appropriate that he plays the part of the Status Quo front man Francis Rossi. The other band members are Mark Jones on drums and Rich on bass guitar. The band is currently looking to recruit a new 'Rick'.The fourth member of the team is Dave, the electronic whizz who is in charge of sound and lights. But why the need for another Status Quo tribute band, surely the circuit is full of them?Once again Tony Explains:'There are a lot of Quo tributes out there its a fact, and a lot of them are first class. Seriously first class. I've seen a few of them now, and as good as they are, there's always something missing - for a proper Quo tribute that is.''For example, some just concentrate of one particular era of Status Quo music and distance themselves from anything else. So I guess they would call themselves a tribute to the Quo of the Seventies.''Others have the 'Parfitt' playing the 'Rossi' bits and vice-versa, and some don't play the right guitars and so on. Nothing wrong with that of course, but its left an opening for a band to attempt the authentic tribute, which we are trying to achieve.''We're aiming at the tribute circuit. In my opinion, when someone books a tribute to a band, they want to hear the famous songs, and see an act on stage that looks and sounds as close to the real thing as is possible.''So that's our target.'The band was formed in 2002 by Tony and the original bass guitar play Goeff Kinch. Ian (Yabs) was a friend, and a natural to play the part of Rick Parfitt. There were a couple of false starts with drummers, but then they found Mark Jones. And with the ever reliable Dave looking after sound, lights and all things electrical, everything was in place.Just as things were starting to take off big time, the lads were hit by a bombshell when Geoff announced that he wanted to leave to form his own band. But undeterred the search began for a replacement bass player, and the highly talented (and massive Quo fan!) Rich stepped in and has since made the role of bass player very much his own.Unfortunately Ian decided to quit the band early in 2006.
