If staying power is the yardstick to greatness, then Geordie comedian Ned Kelly is way ahead of the field.
Ned's forte is the way he deals with hecklers, he can make a docker wilt. In one particularly hard club in Newcastle, he drew the attention away from one loud mouth with the put down "You've got thirty two teeth, would you like to try for sixteen?". The guy was immediately silenced.Ned wrote a column for the Sunday Sport Newspaper for many years, until he moved on to greener pastures and for the past ten years he has headlined at the illustrious Steptoes Nightclub in Benidorm, usually filling the graveyard spot going on stage at 2pm every morning.
Ned's video rode high in the charts for several weeks and his audio tapes are constantly popular.
He recently starred in a feature film called "Like Father", it is a story about pigeon racing ex-miners battling to save their allotments from developers, and it caused a sensation at the London Film Festival.
