As the lead singer with Spandau Ballet, Tony Hadley realized many ambitions. He saw the world, performed to a sizeable chunk of it - both in the live arena and via television and radio - and more importantly, staked his claim as one of popular music's greatest vocalists.Turning the page on Spandau Ballet, Tony has continued to stick to the same raw instincts that brought him early success. Always supremely confident and comfortable when performing, Tony has never stopped doing what he loves. The last few years have seen him not only delighting European audiences on a grand scale with his 1996 arena tour "Night of the Proms" which reached upwards of half a million people, but also enjoying the more intimate and challenging atmosphere of R&B type venues such as the Jazz Cafe and Ronnie Scotts. In addition Tony has embraced other music genres: getting together with dance remixers Tin Tin Out, a collaboration which spawned the Top Forty hit single "Dance With me" as well as the theme song "Build Me Up" for the successful football movie 'When Saturday Comes', starring Sean Bean.In 1998 Tony released his self-titled solo album. This marked his first worldwide release since Spandau Ballet. Through his own label 'Slipstream Records' he recorded a collection of his favourite songs, which included classic tracks such as Duran Duran's "Save A Prayer", featuring Simon Le Bon on backing vocals, the Bee Gees' "First Of May", Tears For Fears' "Woman In Chains" and four of Tony's own compositions including "Dance With Me". Unlike other established UK artists, Tony has already proven himself internationally. As the lead singer of Spandau Ballet, he has sold over 20 million records world-wide and reached the number one spot in 21 countries with the single "True". With this achievement behind him he has continued to perform abroad as much as possible. Over the past year he has been playing with his band across Europe, Africa and South East Asia. Back home he has also found a new audience on the club scene. With remixes of his past and present hits he undertook an extensive PA tour across the whole country. They went so well that Tony has been performing in shows in many European club destinations, including Ibiza, Rhodes, Canary Islands, Italy and Portugal. As the summer progresses Tony is continuing live work with festivals in the UK, Germany, Holland, Belgium and Denmark. In September this year he embarks on a 30-date UK tour with his band, It will be the first time in 12 years that he has played so extensively in this country. In November he will be back in Europe as the special guest of the 'Alan Parsons Project' on the European tour, once again playing in Germany, Belgium, Holland, France and Spain. In December 1999 Tony and his band played their first ever show for the armed forces. Playing at 10 different air bases in Bosnia, not only to the British troops but also to the many different nationalities of soldiers that made up the Peace Keeping Forces on the front line. In January 2000 he is returning to the Balkans to play for troops in Kosovo. In March 2000 Tony will be released his first live album entitled "Obsession". The album was recorded during the autumn tour at Ronnie Scott's in Birmingham.
